The tetractys is a triangular figure consisting of ten points arranged in four rows. A geometrical representation of the 'fourth triangular number' and in turn, a mystical symbol important to the secret worship of the Pythagoreans.

"Tetraktys", on the other hand, is a digital album by neo-minimalist composer, Stuart McLeod. As performer, his vibraphone is struck and bowed throughout, but as composer, the four pieces move from the expansive cathedral atmosphere of '4' and bass clarinet textures of '6', to the unexpected harp-tones of '7', finally crescendoing in near-Ives-ian fireworks with '5'.

With a degree in Music Composition from the University of Washington, Mr. McLeod has composed music for film, stage, and concert hall with works that include an orchestral score for the short film "The Knitter", several Brownbox Theatre productions and structured, improv "game pieces" for the group SIL2K. As percussionist, McLeod has performed with Seattle School, Gamelan Northwest, Byron Au Yong and is a member of the China Sea's 'bitės' collective.
