about

Ataraxia. To seek a state of peacefulness. This series of pieces for piano plus other instruments is dedicated to important women in my life.

Ataraxia i from my previous release is dedicated to my mother Lorna. You can hear the gong she gave me resonating in the background.

Ataraxia ii is dedicated to my wife Rachel. You can hear in the background the chimes she gave me when my father died. It's a reminder of peace. Rachel also painted the cover art for both albums.

Ataraxia iii is dedicated to my daughter Veronica. She plays classical guitar so this piece is for guitar and piano.

Ataraxia iv is for piano, harp, chimes, prayer bowl, vibraphone and effects. It's dedicated to my teacher, the composer and pianist Gloria Swisher who passed away in 2023. She was my first inspiration to compose and I'm honored that she allowed me to record her playing my first piece for piano. I owe her so much.
