about

Two pieces which are mirror opposites to each other in temperament.

The meditative Ataraxia for piano reflects a serene, peaceful state of mind that the ancient Greeks sought to attain. Written in a rigorous mirror form, it begins and ends in the same quiet place but travels beyond that in the middle sections. It's dedicated to my mom, Lorna, who gave me the gongs and prayer bowls I use on the piece.

The disruptive Seismos is much more loosely in mirror form in that it begins and ends violently but with a moment of peace in the middle.
